5 reasons to move in summer

July is fast approaching and the sunshine is shining, which can only mean one thing – British Summertime is here! With that being said, we thought we’d put together 5 reasons why you should move house this season…

1. Improved weather conditions

Typically, the weather conditions in the wintertime can make moving a little tricky, with snow, sleet, frost and ice. However, moving during the summer months means warm weather, typically dryer days and daylight until 9 pm. These conditions are much more reliable and safer for packing up, transporting belongings and unpacking at the other end.

2. Summer holidays

With children off school during the Summer months, moving house wouldn’t cause any disruption to their school year. This is a bonus for those moving to a different catchment area as the children will be able to finish one school year and start the next, in a new school. Moving during the Summer months also gives you a better chance to settle into a new home as you can make proper use of your outdoor space.

3. Longer days with plenty of sunshine

This is a plus for both sides of a transaction. The brighter and longer days make those all-important viewings much more worthwhile because it allows potential buyers to view your property at its best. The natural light will flow through the property well into the late hours of the evening, allowing viewings to take place in the evenings for those who work in a 9-5 job.

4. Blossoming garden

Your outdoor space will be looking its best after a little bit of TLC and plenty of Summer sunshine. To wow any potential buyers, you could plant a few in-expensive plants to bring some colour into your garden or tidy up any edges of your lawns or gravelled area’s. If you don’t have any outdoor space, open the windows and let that sunshine in – this will make your property seem much more spacious and appealing to potential buyers.

5. Annual Leave

Most people take a longer period of annual leave in the Summer months, which could be highly beneficial when moving into a new home. Taking time out to move could also free you up to organise a car boot or garage sale to reduce the number of belongings you need transport and make a few extra ££’s.
